Tiivistelmä:The increased globalization of markets is a much discussed subject in Austria. In this discussion the focus is on demand for more intensive marketing in the international markets, a shift from exports to different forms of direct investition. In the planning of international marketing, the selection of the countries where marketing activity seems to be hopeful, is always the first and the most crucial step. There are several "country selection models", which can be useful in structuring and systematizing the decision-making process of selection among the national markets. Five of them are described, and compared to experimental data collected from seven Austrian firms, which are engaged in international trade.
