| Tiivistelmä: | Computers today can do far more than crunch numbers - they can mimic human behaviour. Rapid advances in artificial intelligence have resulted in hundreds of "expert systems" - many of which run on personal computers - to help management solve problems, control quality, and so on. While these systems have risks and limitations, on the whole they are cost efficient and user-friendly. The five components of an expert system are listed and explained. The potential benefits of business applications of expert systems are demonstrated. Several corporate strategies that integrate expert system techniques into business operations are using expert systems, ignoring them could cause nonusers to fall behind. |
