| Tiivistelmä: | The translog cost function which incorporates both tehnical and allocative inefficiencies is considered. A theoretically consistent linkage between allocative ineficiency - as measured by the errors of the cost share equations - and cost therefrom is provided. First, it estimates the translog cost system with inefficiencies , then disentangles cost-inefficiency into measures of technical and allocative inefficiencies from the composite error term in the cost function. The maximum likelihood method is developed to obtain consistent parameter estimates. |
