| Tiivistelmä: | The author, who is a teacher in New York, states that American education has lost ground. It is reflected in the fact that his students, who come from thirty different schhols, often lack for basic skills, including map reading, interpreting graphic materials, writing complete sentences. To improve this he urges a dialogue between business and education. The business community and the schools need to share ideas, approaches and solutions. It must be recognized that the relationship between work and education is changing. More people will have to get used to notion of education and retraining as an ongoing process. |
