Tiivistelmä:If Poles once thought that throwing out the communists would give the country a quick fix to achieve capitalist success, they now know a lot better. Three and a half years into their new market economy , the one lesson they have learned is the pain of being in debt. Indeed, there are those who argue that the country has simply exchanged one set of masters for a new one - in the form of IMF. Although Poland, like Hungary, has an enthusiastic entrepreneurial population, its privatisation of large state enterprises, as opposed to those in the mom-and-pop corner-shop sector, has trailed at a snail's pace.
