| Tiivistelmä: | The ESA's first European Remote-Sensing Satellite, ERS-1 will be launched for the 1990s. It will provide essential data for addressing a wide range of primary environmental problems. ERS-1 has been designed to meet operational requirements for data products quickly, so it will make important contributions to operational meteorology, sea-state forecasting, ice-mapping, pollution monitoring. It will also offer land-application opportunities in agriculture, forestry, geology, and glaciology. |
