| Tiivistelmä: | In the 1970s medium-sized operational satellites were produced for Entelsat, Inmarsat and Telecom-1 systems, however, ESA recognized the necessity of larger telecommunications satellites and the 'Heavy Satellite' (H-Sat) programme was launched in 1979. This was followed by the 'Large Satellite' (L-Sat) programme in 1982 supported by eight ESA member states. |
