| Tiivistelmä: | Using 1980 Census data, the paper analyzes the labour force participation and earning profiles of married female immigrants. The results are as follows: 1) Participation rates significantly differ across origin, but slowly converge with time spent in the US. 2) Tied-mover women are less likely to participate. 3) The presence of young children determines participation only probabilistically. 4) Immigrant women hardly support their husbands attending school. |
