| Tiivistelmä: | This paper suggests that business executives need to reorient their thinking from the traditional emphasis on attaining strategic fit to that of building strategic flexibility. Strategic flexibility is thus a significant precondition for sustained competitive success. Various options for gaining strategic flexibility are discussed. The paper also notes some of the potential disadvantages of incorporating strategic flexibility. Clearly, firms need to adopt a balanced view of the advantages and disadvantages offered by strategic flexibility while formulating corporate and business strategies. |
