Tiivistelmä: | This paper studies the case of Finland, which is a rather advanced television country with two national channels partly funded by advertising, the third national channel, a commercial one, being almost completed, and a high percentage of cable and video households. The authors analyse the shift in prime-time programme structure between 1970 and 1992. Special attention is paid to the relationship between the state-run YLE and the privately owned MTV. Two main questions are considered: 1) whether there have been any major shifts in the prime-time programme supply during the last two decades, 2) whether any noticeable convergence has taken place between the programme mixes of the YLE and the MTV. |
