| Tiivistelmä: | The study attempts to provide an exhaustive assessment of construct validity of Belbin's team role model. This paper brings together the research into and using that model. The study applies role theory to contextualize the origins of team role model. The psychometric properties of the Team Role Self-Perception Inventory are examined with studies that have empirically tested theoretical connections between team roles and other psychological traits. Studies of the psychometric properties of the instruments used to measure team roles have produced mixed evidence. Thus, the study concludes that the model and its accompanying inventory have acceptable convergent validity. Still, strong associations between some team roles are found, which indicates weak discriminant validity among some scales included in the Inventory. Finally, the paper suggests new challenging research opportunities. |
