| Tiivistelmä: | This paper introduces the efforts of two British trade unions to facilitate the access to English-language tuition for migrant workers. By conducting interviews with union officers, project partners and migrant workers, the trade unions' means by which they have supported migrant workers, what kind of challenges they have confronted in the process and how effective their attempts have been in linking the education to their recruitment activities, are examined. In addition to this, the paper aims to contribute to the ongoing debate about the possibilities of union-supported education in stimulating growth in union membership. |
