Tiivistelmä:Partially suppressed markets are markets where governmental controls and regulations try, but do not totally succeed in replacing free market forces. They have not been thoroughly investigated up to now although they are characteristic for developing countries. Demand and supply functions for the Indian sugar market are formulated and estimated with 1951-1982 data. Costs of protection and rent seeking are also quantified.
