| Tiivistelmä: | The paper reports on the introduction of euro notes and coins in the European market on January 1, 2002. The author pays an attention to the impact of the introduction of euro notes and coins and to evolution of the market in euro-dominated bonds. The paper also considers the efficiency of the financial market of the European Union and provides the following insets: Timetable to sweep away Europe's barriers to cross-border deals; Lamfalussy laments EU's tardy reform. The author states that three year after European monetary union, euro notes and coins enter circulation next month. Some observers predict a mild boost for the currency. So the author answers the question will fresh impetus also be lent to Brussels' initiative to build a single European market in financial services to complete the picture. |
