| Tiivistelmä: | The authors answer the question what problems are likely to be encountered in International Joint Ventures with Chinese businesses and focus on International Joint Ventures (IJVs) rather than Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprises (WFOEs) because the former investment vehicle is in some respects still poorly understood, particularly with regard to the attitudes and behaviour of senior Chinese managers, and is likely to arouse strong feelings about partner behaviours. An understanding of Chinese managerial attitude and behavior clearly has significance beyond the IJV, as Chinese managers are, for example, promoted to senior positions in WFOEs, or are involved in business negotiations with foreign- invested enterprises. |
