| Tiivistelmä: | The author shows that traditional rules of thumb used in Switzerland to provide security of energy supply (oil for 90 days and electricity self-sufficiency in 19 out of 20 winters) are too costly in terms of capacity and hoarding. The same security of supply can be achieved at lower cost if substitution relationships between different kinds of energy are taken into account. |
