| Tiivistelmä: | In many inventory models the shortage cost is one of the components in the objective function. But in practice the determination of the shortage cost is considered to be very difficult, and therefore it is often replaced by a condition on the service level in order to prevent unacceptable stockouts. A continuous review control system is considered, where the order point and lot size are computed simultaneously. Instead of having a shortage-cost in the objective function, a service-level constraint is added to the model. The shadow price can be interpreted as the shortage cost. In order to enable the modelling of a great number of different shapes of lead-time demand distributions two different distributions are tested. |
