| Tiivistelmä: | The paper explores the macro- and microeconomic dimensions of the New Economy. It argues that present technological change well measures up to the industrial revolutions of past centuries, although it seems much too early to identify fundamental trend shifts in aggregate productivity growth. The basic feature of the transition to the New Economy is the rising importance of informational goods - both at the output and the input level - in virtually all sectors of the economy. The consequences of the New Economy for the organizational structure of firms and for labor markets and industrial relations are analyzed. The final part presents some brief policy conclusions (original in German). |
