| Tiivistelmä: | Like in many other European countries, since 1973 growth of business investment has been very weak in France. Its pick-up, since 1985 (since 1984 in manufacturing), is faltering. The big investments effected before 1973 should replaced by new ones, otherwise the tendency of ageing and scraping of productive capital will strengthen. As the productivity of capital has strongly dropped in France since 1979 French companies are cautious about new investment. Higher rates of return on invested capital could be reached by best allocation and best use of equipment as well as by increasing funds transfer into the non-material sphere. |
