| Tiivistelmä: | A decision support system developed to prioritize oil and gas exploration activities is described. Exploration manager in a major oil company must assign geologists to projects. Oil companies need to select oil and gas plays for study by geologists and geophysicists. The development of this ranking system is guided by familiar concepts from decision theory, specifically, multiattribute models and the value of information. Linear approximations to more complex mathematical functions are developed in order to supply information to the users. However, this system is designed to be used on a routine basis by personnel unfamiliar with these technical issues, so they are masked from the user. |
