| Tiivistelmä: | The French Ministry of Education set up a special programme in 1989 to introduce graduate assistants to teaching at university level in order to meet projected teaching needs and to fill a gap that had opened when the recruiting system was drastically altered. At that time there were some 1 200 000 students in higher education; this figure is expected to rise to nearly 2 000 000 by the turn of the century. |
