Tiivistelmä:Quality assessment and evaluation of the teaching performance of staff are new topics on the agenda under discussion in German higher education policy. This article describes the development of that recent discussion. Started in the late eighties by politicians laying more and more emphasis both on the unacceptability of the fact that in comparison with students and graduates of other European countries, German student most are studying too long.
