| Tiivistelmä: | This paper presents some key statistical data on the museum sector in the UK. Good data are of course a vital ingredient not only for the analysis of museum activity and operations, but also for the development of policy and the distribution of grant-in-aid. The authors present some data on the museums in the EU, and briefly outline the policy context. Section 2 looks at UK data sources, and the reliability of visitor data. In Section 3 the authors present some summary data on numbers of and their visitors. Some implications are also considered. |
