Tiivistelmä:Following a century of inertia, the Louvre Museum has undergone a fundamental transformation over the past two decades, marking a turning point in the history of unique cultural institution and leading to major changes in both its appearance and its organizational structure. Today, the Grand Louvre is one of the world's "superstar museums", in terms of the calibre of its collections and its size, architecture, attendance levels, and economic and commercial impact. A resolutely modern museum at the peak of its growth, the Grand Louvre is characterized by high degree of specialization. While success has brought its share of management problems, the Museum has emerged from the adventure with the autonomy necessary to control its destiny. Throughout, the Louvre has demonstrated remarkable capacity for learning, driven by the pursuit of excellence. This impressive organizational saga is representative of contemporary efforts to modernize museums and transform their organizational identity.
