| Tiivistelmä: | In today's manufacturing environments, inventories are maintained at lower levels than in the past. This has led to smaller storage systems, and the need for quick access. Hence, automated storage/retrieval systems (ASRS) must provide quick response to service requests to keep the system efficient. One important aspect of the ASRS is the location where the SR machine is positioned when the ASRS is idle and awaiting the next service request. This paper develops an analytical model for the determination of the optimal location for an SR machine in an ASRS system. |
