| Tiivistelmä: | According to the forecast by the State Information Centre and the State Statistic Bureau, investment in fixed assets for the whole society in 1997 will increase by 18% to 20%, slightly higher than the increase rate of 1996, and the increase rate in real terms is higher than GDP, up 2 to 3 percentage points. The investment rate increase slightly from 1996, reaching 34% or 35%. Investment is still the locomotive of economic growth. It is both necessary and possible from the point of view of the sources of funding to keep a fairly high investment rate for economic development. Currently the rate of saving of China is noticeably high, and especially household saving, which constantly maintains a high increase rate, is a stable source of capital for banks. In addition there is greater potential for making use of foreign capital. |
