In 1986 Blue Cross / Blue Shield decided to create a smoke free workplace. The action is completely successful. Reasons why the plan worked are listed. The whole program is outlined. Its phases are described and analyzed in detail. The project got high support from top management. Its importance to the image of the company and to the health of employees was communicated to the workers. Feedback and dissent was allowed. Effects on visitors are found to be positive. |
