Tiivistelmä:The question of founding is of fundamental importance to the study of organizations. The current investigation of organizational founding is based on cumulative research evidence that suggests that two sets of forces affect new founding levels: ecological dynamics which include the effects of previous levels of foundings and disbandings and of density, or the number of organizations alive in a population; and institutional changes. It is investigated whether dynamics and institutional changes in a population differentially affect the founding of single- and multiple-domain organizations. Results show that both have stronger influences on single-domain organizations.
