Tiivistelmä: | The study reports on the first hand experiences of two participants (creditors committee chairman and his senior attorney) in the aftermath and resolution of one of the largest bank failures in history. The primary focus of the story is the economic conflict between the bondholders of the holding company and a very aggressive FDIC and its long term implications of this economic conflict for the capital markets. A private party could not possibly have gotten away with some of the things that the FDIC attempted. Bank holding companies may find risk capital increasingly difficult to raise, particularly when the economy turns soft. |
