Tiivistelmä:This article looks at de-regulation of the nation's electric utility industries in light of the Enron bankruptcy and the consequence of the subsequent state take-over of electricity purchasing. It is proposed that de-regulation is not dead; and instead proposes a restructuring of power markets that allows for next-generation cleaner power production. The author states that the bankruptcy of Enron of Houston, Texas, a firm that will forever be linked to the exaggerated promises linked to deregulating electricity supplies, casts a long shadow. The meteoric rise and abrupt fall of Enron reinforces the idea that "deregulation" of electricity is the root cause of the authors' seesawing supply woes.
