| Tiivistelmä: | The empty center is a typical characteristic of many Japanese phenomena: the city in Japan has an empty center, the emperor, corporate CEO's are empty (they have no opinion of their own). The concept of the empty center is rooted in Zen-Buddhism. The function of the empty center is to stabilise the system, to accommodate contradictory forces. How this is attained is analysed from a semiotic point of view. |
