Tiivistelmä:Regardless of a return of merely 0.53 cents on the U.S. dollar, state lotteries are extremely popular, especially among the poor playing the most but being able to least afford to play. Conducting two experiments (as: 1. and 2.) with low-income (here as: l-inc.) participants (as: prtcps.), this study explores how implicit comparisons with other income classes increase l-inc. individuals' desire to play the lottery (as: lt.): 1. prtcps. were more likely to purchase lt. tickets when primed to perceive their own income being low relative to an implicit standard. 2. prtcps. purchased more lt. tickets when considering situations with rich people or poor people receiving advantages, implicitly highlighting the fact of everyone having an equal chance of winning the lt.
