| Tiivistelmä: | The author discusses several ways of identifying elementary and complex units of communication, speaks about the notion of data in verbal and nonverbal communication. It is suggested that the constitution and consistent interpretation of communication data should be based on a theory of symbolic action. Examples are offered as to the use of notational systems in communication. |
