| Tiivistelmä: | Lessing invented a new classification of signs in order to establish a distinction between prose, poetry and painting. This classification does not allow to differentiate between imitation and description in texts.The article describes how Lessing introduced the distinction between sign and idea whereby signs became the medium of conceptualization of objects. |
