Tiivistelmä:The impact of the Single European Market in 1992 is analysed as it is perceived by managers and experts in six industries. Three multidomestic (where each country is considered a separate market) and three mixed industries (transnationals who adapt to local demand and multinationals who meet no local resistance) were examined to discover their strategies, their strengths and weaknesses and so uncover the key factors necessary for success post-1992. French firms are analysed for their ability to acquire the new skills necessary to succeed. The study found that industry is too general an area and each strategy should be analysed separately. Companies will need to define segments efficiently and show commercial and technological innovation.
