| Tiivistelmä: | Previous research is inconclusive as to the relationship between a firm's value and its international involvement. Evidence is provided on USA investor's response to USA-China joint ventures by the degree of internationalization. Particular attention is paid to the effect of USA-China joint venture announcements on USA investors' wealth. It is shown that USA investors and stockholders of firms with limited international involvement responded positively to joint ventures with China. This primarily is based on the potential benefit associated with the expansion strategy. Future research in this area should examine other potential reasons why positive excess returns are associated with some IJVs only. |
