Tiivistelmä:Knowledge abounds on product planning in the literature, but much less effort has been expended on the planning of services. The planning of new hotels in particular poses unusual problems since a hotel is a mixture of 'product' and 'services'. This article appraises the planning process of a major hotel operating company in the light of product planning concepts derived from the literature on organization theory, planning and marketing. However, despite the recent interest shown by the literature on services marketing, relatively scarce attention has been paid to this issue of planning new hotel products.
