Business is bad in the French capital markets. Volumes have fallen. There are fewer international clients. The French firms are having to fight off competition from foreign banks. One result has been a slashing of margins. Some bankers say they have seen cases of dumping. But French banks are doing more to win business than lopping off a few basis points. |
