Tiivistelmä:The direct environment of Slovenia is represented by the countries of EU, EFTA and Visegrad group. The increase in economic cooperation with the latter might be very useful for Slovenia and could be realized by free-trade agreements. But the existing agreements among the middle-European countries in transition are too limited (only reducing of import restrictions) to replace a better access to developed countries markets as well as technology and specific knowledge transfer from developed countries.Empirical studies have shown that the trade among countries on similar stage of development together with not enough diversified industrial and service sector can not replace co-operation with highly developed countries (like the EU).Thus Slovenia should act very intensively and very quickly in two directions: with the EU and with the countries in transition.
