Tiivistelmä:Most competitors know a key in the success of Japanese network relationships is the practice of dedicating supplier assets to the customer. That is, Japanese auto-parts suppliers will send engineers to work at the customer's site, locate plants near the customer, or invest in customized physical assets. As a result, Japanese manufacturers keep transportation and inventory costs low and improve product development coordination. A study of production networks in the auto industry reinforces the contention that dedicated assets provide Japanese manufacturers with competitive advantages.
