Tiivistelmä:Manufacturers know they should make the parts that are core to their strategy and outsource the rest, but even well run companies have trouble making those decisions. The challenge for managers is to make strategic discriminations among the thousands of parts they know mostly in term of cost, not function or importance to the product. The principles guiding the new thinking are simple. The planning should be done by a procurement steering committee that includes top executives, product designers, marketing experts, and engineers: all the people who establish a company's competitive strategy.
