Tiivistelmä: | HBR regularly reprints 'classic' articles that are at least 15 years old and have demonstrated enduring value. In this 1977 article, the author concludes that managers and leaders are two very different types of people. Managers diffuse conflicts in the interest of getting the day's work done. Leaders, however, inspire creativity and may create conflict or, at least, chaos. When this article was originally published, the author found too many managers and too few leaders. Today he brings a new note to the debate in a retrospective commentary. |
