| Tiivistelmä: | The Slovenian stock index (SBI) of the Ljubljana stock exchange is computed and published since June 1994.It certainly can not be as important and informative as stock indices of world well- known stock exchanges.Some important stock indices, methods for their computation and their importance for investors are discussed in this article.There are numerous ways of constructing an index of movements in stock market prices and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.Therefore, the choice of a stock market index is always a compromise and this helps to explain why often several different indices are computed in a single stock market. |
