Tiivistelmä: | The article introduces the review of theoretical concepts and models relevant for the project Health-Promoting Schools focusing primarily on those which enhance the notion of health with the dimensions of the quality of life.It puts stress on the need for enhancement of the traditional preventive model of education for health and health promotion with the elements of the empowerment and radical models.Health is not only a responsibility and a task of an individual to change his/her behaviour; therefore the main task of the Health-Promoting School is to prepare pupils also for changing the environment and living conditions that have influence on health.Lifeskills training and democratizing of health education and life in schools in general play an important role in achieving this objective. |
