| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of this article is to examine the implementation and functioning of work teams in a variety of cultures. The authors hope to inform managers regarding the major obstacles to implementing work teams in global affiliates and the potential solutions for overcoming these roadblocks. The authors highlight the specific cultural differences their research has identified as critical to the effectiveness of work teams. During their research, the authors observed, interviewed, and collected survey data from 378 work teams in Argentina, Belgium, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and the United States. Participating companies included 11 firms in the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical products, communications, health care, and imaging industries in nine countries. |
