| Tiivistelmä: | Over the past 30 years complex phenomena like mergers and acquisitions (M & As) have been very popular subjects among different management disciplines. Three different dominant streams of studies can be identified from the behavioral and strategic literature: the issues of strategic fit, organizational fit and the acquisition process. In the article the recent achievements of each of the streams are considered in more detail. Interestingly, parallel to the mentioned research achievements, the number of unsuccessful M & As has remained high. The reasons for this dichotomy are proposed and the future opportunities for M & A research are highlighted. |
