Tiivistelmä:The business press has cited many reasons why mergers succeed or fail. One explanation that has gained recent attention views a merger as a union of two corporate cultures. Therefore, it is assumed that when a merger fails, it is the result of a corporate culture clash. It is contended that problems often accompanying the mergering of two dissimilar corporate cultures can be surmounted if the managers of an acquiring firm send 'right', not 'wrong', signals through their initial actions. By examining different merger processes the difference between 'mergering' and 'being merged' is defined.
