| Tiivistelmä: | Organizational commitment has been conceptualized and measured in various ways. Two studies are reported which were conducted to test a three-component model of commitment. This model integrates the various conceptualizations. It was found in Study 1 that the three components of commitment can be measured reliably, although there was some overlap between affective and normative commitment. The results of Study 2 revealed a pattern of relationships between the commitment measures. Results of a canonical correlation analysis suggested that the affective and continuance components are empirically distinguishable. The importance of differentiating the components of commitment, both in research and practice, is discussed. |
