Tiivistelmä:The international success of many developing country firms presents a conundrum for the traditional theories of comparative advantage and international trade. In an attempt to resolve this conundrum, a model of economic growth and business internationalization is presented. This model is based on the concept of government directed dynamic comparative advantage. It identified three interconnected sequential stages of internationalization of an economy and its business firms, i.e. import substitution, export promotion, and foreign direct investment. The model was found consistent with the development experiences in India, Singapore, and South Korea.
