| Tiivistelmä: | Several authors have dealt with the welfare effects of import quotas and voluntary export restraints for a small country but made only passing remarks on the large country case. This case is taken up in the present paper. Within a two-country two-commodity framework the author deals with quantitative restrictions of domestic imports like a quota imposed unilaterally by the home government or a voluntary export restraint agreed upon with foreign suppliers. It is demonstrated that the smaller representative households share in scarcity rent the less they profit from trade restriction. |
